Hemsegården, a cultural hub inaugurated in 1956, has long served as a vital space for the community. From theatre performances and film screenings to dances, meetings, and family celebrations, it quickly became a central location for entertainment and gatherings.
After three decades of constant use, Hemsegården required significant refurbishment. Recognizing the evolving needs of the community, plans were made to modernize the facilities, including integrating spaces for a youth recreation centre and after-school care program.
The renovated youth recreation centre opened in February 1990, followed by the broader Hemsegården redevelopment in 1993. This upgrade not only modernized the existing structure but also replaced the furnishings and equipment.
The goal was to meet contemporary standards for a modern cinema, theatre, and event venue. Hemsegården demonstrated its commitment to staying current with a digital cinema installation in January 2013, ensuring high-quality viewing experiences.
